| Giving
a present often bestows as much joy on the person giving it
as it does on the person receiving it. Much of the joy is
derived from not only choosing the present but also wrapping
it up and imagining how the person receiving it will feel
when they unwrap it. Attention to detail is what is important.
|
 |
| There are countless
ways to gift wrap presents but this will depend on their shape
and size, the style and taste of the giver, the nature of the
gift and on who the recipient is. The traditional way of presenting
gifts is using gift boxes, gift bags or gift wrap. |
 |
| Gift boxes come in a variety
of sizes up to a maximum, which is still quite small, and as
such is ideal for smaller gifts which are otherwise difficult
to wrap. Gift bags are equally suitable for bottles as for small
gifts. Gift wrap, bought in either sheets or rolls is very versatile.
A gift, wrapped in plain brown or white paper, and tied up with
coloured curling ribbon can be just as effective as highly patterned
or shiny gift wrap. The task of wrapping bottles can be made
easy by using patterned tissue paper instead of conventional
gift wrap. As it is soft, it can be made to fit snuggly around
the bottle. Many styles of patterned tissue paper are now available,
including gold and silver prints, which are ideal for wrapping
Christmas gifts or gifts purchased for special celebrations. |
 |
| Gifts baskets filled with tissue
paper, shredded paper or straw can be used to display a gift
that consists of a number of small gifts. Encasing the basket
with decorative cellophane tied with florist’s ribbon
will produce a professional finish. |
| |
| Disguising a gift is common
practice. Popular methods are to wrap a gift in tissue paper
or cellophane and tie both ends with raffia or ribbon to resemble
a wrapped sweet or to use an unusual shaped box or padding next
to the wrapping paper. |
 |
| No matter what method of wrapping
is chosen it is possible to increase the impact by coordinating,
for example, the wrapping paper with a gift tag or by adding
an accessory that compliments the gift. A bow on a gift bag
or a flower on a wedding gift will add something special. |
